Assign Users to Campus Portal User Roles in Desktop

Once the Campus Portal user roles have been created, using the Role Definition window in J1 Desktop, you can assign the appropriate users to them. You can also remove users from Campus Portal user roles when appropriate.

  1. Open the Role Membership window in J1 Desktop.

  2. Choose Add Row from the right-click menu options.

    Note

    You may wish to ensure that the role does not already exist for the ID by filling in the ID and/or Role ID columns in the Selection Criteria area of the window and then clicking the Search button. Any rows matching the entered criteria will be displayed.

    Tip

    To view the users currently associated with a role, select the role from the Role ID drop-down list and click the Search button.

  3. In the ID column, enter the ID number for the user to be added to the role.

    Tip

    To search for an ID number, choose Advanced Search from the right-click menu options.

  4. In the Role ID drop-down list, choose the Campus Portal role to which the user is to be assigned.

    Note

    This drop-down list displays the following for each Role ID: Description, J1 Portal Role ID, J1 Desktop Associated Role, and External Authentication.

  5. Repeat steps 2 - 4 for as many users as needed.

  6. Save.

  1. Open the Role Membership window in J1 Desktop.

  2. Locate the user to be removed from the role.

    1. To search by user name:

      1. In the ID column in the Selection Criteria area, enter the ID number for the user to be removed from the role.

        Note

        To search for an ID number, choose Advanced Search from the right-click menu options.

      2. If desired, in the Role ID drop-down list in the Selection Criteria area, choose the Campus Portal role from which the user is to be removed.

      3. Click the Search button.

    2. To search by Campus Portal role:

      1. In the Role ID drop-down list in the Selection Criteria area, choose the Campus Portal role from which the user is to be removed.

      2. Click the Search button.

      3. All users associated to the role are displayed.

  3. Select the row with the user name and the role from which the user will be removed.Select the row with the user name and the role from which the user will be removed.

  4. Choose Delete Row from the right-click menu options.

  5. Save.
