Setting Up My Residence Preferences

J1 Desktop Setup
  1. Open the Session Definition window.

  2. Select the Show on Web checkbox for all defined sessions to be displayed in JICS. 

  3. Save.

Campus Portal Setup
  1. Log in as the Campus Portal administrator.

  2. Navigate to the My Residence Preferences feature.

  3. From the Admin Toolbar, click Settings. The Settings page appears.

    1. In the Default Student Life Term drop-down list, select the default Year and Term (Session) for which room and roommate preferences information for the student will be displayed. This setting only affects this instance of the My Residence Preferences feature. All other places where the My Residence Preferences feature appears will not use the same settings.

    2. Click the Save button.

  4. Click the Exit button.

  1. Log in as the Campus Portal administrator.

  2. From the My Residence Preferences feature, click the Set Options option.

  3. On the Portal User Options page, select the Name Search Options that your school wishes to have the Name Search process in the My Residence Preferences feature use.

    1. If you select the Search Using Phonetic Match checkbox, Name Search attempts to find a name using a phonetic or Soundex match.

    2. If you select the Search Using Primary Name checkbox, Name Search attempts to find a name using the LAST_NAME, FIRST_NAME, and/or MIDDLE_NAME fields in the ID record.

    3. If you select the Search Using the Alternate Name Types checkbox, Name Search attempts to find a name using the NICKNAME, PREFERRED_NAME, and/or BIRTH_NAME fields in the ID record.

  4. Click the Save button.
